- "8 JOHN4 BOUGHTON (Matthew3, John2-1) born possibly 1710; will dated Danbury 6 Sept. 1756 and presented for probate on 28 April 1757 by Benjamin Boughton and Rebeckah Boughton, widow (Danbury PR 1:122-23, 128-29). He married ca. 1742 REBECCA (SEYMOUR) WHITNEY, who died Danbury 8 Sept. 1775 (Dan. Cong. CR), widow of Elijah Whitney (who died before 15 Dec 1741), and daughter of Capt. John and Sarah (Gregory) Seymour (Grant Gregory, Ancestors and Descendants of Henry Gregory [Provincetown, Mass., 1938] p. 56; George D. Seymour and Donald Lines Jacobus, A History of the Seymour Family [New Haven, Conn., 1939] pp. 47-9). The will of Rebecca Starr, wife of Josiah Starr, written 21 Aug. 1775 and proved 7 Nov. 1775, mentions land of her late husband, John Boughton (Danbury PR vol. 3, second p. 285). She married (3) Josiah Starr."
