- "Children [of Eli and Hannah (-----) Edwards]:
- Nancy, [born say 1796;] m. Horace Whitney and moved to Ohio where she d. ca. 1838, after which he m.(2) Eliza Swallow. Horace and three of his brothers who also m. Edwards daughters, were sons of Jonathan Whitney who came from Pomfret, Conn., ca 1805, and is said to have established the first sawmill in Luzerne County. Nancy was mother of at least the following, found in the 1850 Federal Census of Delaware County.

- Samantha, b. 1826.
- Hannah, b. 1828.
- Harriet, b. 1832.
- Nelly, b. 1834.
- Elizabeth, b. 1834.
- Nancy, b. 1838.
- Ellen, b. 1824.
- Mary/Polly, b. 10 June 1799 in New York, d. in Delaware County, Ohio, 1881; m. 1818 Ransom Whitney, who had been a soldier in the War of 1812, and as his widow she was granted a pension on his service.
Children: surname Whitney- Mary, b. 1820, d. 1827.
- Ransom, b. 1821, d. 1831.
- Elisha, b. 1827 in Ohio.
- Nancy, b. 1829, m. Hammond Barcus who d. in the Civil War.
- Eli, b. 1832, 1st Lieutenant in the Civil War but d. 1863 at home.
- Sarah, b. 1834, m. David Walker.
- David, b. 1836, m. Mary Van Meter.
- Peter, b. 1838, m. Emma Oldham.
- Hannah, m. Francis Whitney, and had eight children not found. She was 30-40 in the 1840 Census, and they were living in Delaware County, Ohio as late as 1840 when her father referred in a deed to the corner of land deeded to Hannah Whitney.
- Loucena, or Louisiana, b. ca. 1804 in Luzerne County, Pa.; m. Walter Whitney and this family remained in what after 1844 was Wyoming County, Pa.
Children: surname Whitney- William, b. 1824.
- Ann, b. 1825.
- Charles Wesley, b. 1827.
- Emeline, b. 1831, m. ----- Lyons.
- Lucinda, b. 1834, m. Elihu Keeney.
- John J., b. 1836, killed in action, 18 May 1864, at Spottsylvania, Va., a sergeant.
- Lorenzo, b. 1840, twin.
- Alonzo, b. 1840, twin.
- Emily, d. y.
- Luraney, d. y."
