Chester, gent., and Frances his wife, Sir Richard Wilbraham of Woodhey, kt. and bt., George Cotton of Combermeyre, esq., Arthur Starkey of Wrenbury, esq., Hugh Whitney of Coole, gent., John Cheswis of Mickley, gent., and William Wilson of Held, co. Chester, gent
(2) William Massie of the Mosse, co. Chester, esq., and William Halsall of Hankilowe [Hankelow] Cheshire, esq
By deed of 18 Sept., 1635 between (i) John Cartwright and Frances his wife, Thomas Ravenscroft of Newhall, yeoman, and Mary his wife, and Richard Edgley of Newhall, yeoman, and Jane his wife and (ii) Sir Richard Wilbraham, George Cotton, Arthur Starkey, Hugh Whitney, John Cheswis and William Wilson, (i) conveyed to (ii) three closes called Bickertons woodes in Newhall, on trust that (ii) should permit (i) to enjoy them for so long as John Cartwright should pay £6 p.a. for the use of the minister and poor of the parish of Wrenbury. Proviso that if Cartwright should pay £100, then (ii) should stand seised to the use of Cartwright, his heirs and assigns for ever, freed from the said charge
Now (1) (Cartwright in consideration of £120 paid him by (2), and the rest, at the request of Cartwright and in performance of trust) sell the closes to (2). Newhall and Wrenbury, Cheshire
