Family:Whitney, Dennis (1821-1881)

Dennis⁸ Whitney (Nathan⁷, Nathan⁶, David⁵, Nathan⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Nathan⁷ and Ann Mary (Hensel) Whitney, was born circa 1822, VA, and died Jan 1881, Peoria, KS.

He may possibly have married Mahala -----. She was born about 1836, OH, and died after 1860.

Possible children of Dennis⁸ and Mahala (-----) Whitney:

i.	J.9 Whitney (son), b. ca. 1857, OH; d. after 1860. Not in family in 1870.

Notes

The 1880 census shows that Mahala Whitney living with Dennis in 1880 and 1870 was his sister, not a wife. It is possible that the first M. Whitney living with him in 1850 was also the sister, and that Dennis never married. G. Whitney living with him was no doubt his brother George. The second and third M. Whitneys living with him are unidentified, although one or both could be sisters or sisters-in-law. Alternatively, as shown above, he may have married the first M. Whitney and had the son J. Whitney, and the third M. Whitney may be his sister Mahala.
