| − | == Simmons Simon Whitney 1815-1817 ==
| + | Please delete page Family: Whitney Harry (1873-1945) created by me today. I see that it is a duplicate of an existing page for this person. Sorry for the confusion. Bill Cressey. |

| − | Hi Robert,
| + | == Danel C. Whitney (1815-1839) == |
| − | I have another Whitney cemetery mystery that I was wondering if you might be able to help me with. I have a copy of all the Whitney inscriptions at Common Street Cemetery in Watertown from "Massachusetts DAR GRC report; sl v048: gravestone inscriptions, Village Cemetery, Watertown, MA/Watertown Chapter." The inscription reade "Simmons Simon Whitney, son of James and Sally Whitney. Died 29 Sept. 1817; aet. 2 y. 2m." Any idea which family he might belong to?

| | | | |
| − | Thanks,
| + | Please change his name to Samuel Whitney. As explained in the changes to the page I just made, the Husted information that his name was Daniel is not correct, alathough it was thought to be correct when the page was first created. |

| − | Follow up: It makes much more sense that his name is Simon Whitney Simmons. Thank you for your insight. I wonder if there were other children between James and Sally's last known child and Simon. Simon and Mary (Ruggles) Whitney are also buried in this cemetery, but I haven't found other graves for this family. I plan to visit this cemetery soon to research further. I am still searching for my elusive Jonathan and Abigail (Hammond) Whitney!

| |
| − | | |
| − | Hello,
| |
| − | | |
| − | I noticed as I was trolling through the site that you had asked about Ephraim Bennett Whitney 1812-c.1880. He is my 2nd G g-father. If you have not seen it, I created a page for him which I can trace to my mother Margaret Ruth Whitney 1943-2007. If this pg., which I guessed at the formatting, is incorrect, please feel free to correct it.

| − | I have nothing material of my Whitney family as my mother's final husband banned her children from the home and funeral and took everything. Everything portable was given away or went to the dump. He did this out of spite.
| |
| − | | |
| − | A cousin discovered me and she is here on this site, too. Her name is Angie. We are both stumped and stonewalled at this point.
| |
| − | | |
| − | Thanks so much for all your hard work.

| − | | |
| − | Robert,
| |
| − | | |
| − | I am in the process of creating family pages for Luke S. Whitney and his descendents. I believe he is the unknown son of Jacob Whitney. The age and birth location align well and Luke's wife's family also lived in Litchfield, MI. That supports the two of them meeting and marrying in Litchfield in lieu of removing to Litchfield. If you agree, I will provide a solid link to Jacob. If not, I will link as a probable.

| − | Robert,
| |
| − | | |
| − | I added the category links on Luke's page. How do I add new pages and/or links in the categories or is that something you need to do?

| − | Robert,
| |
| − | | |
| − | I appreciate you asking my opinion on this topic. Having worked with both, I find it much easier to input data into the table format used in the state indexes. With the variable spacing associated with the imbedded links, it's difficult to achieve alignment in the federal indexes. I'm not sure it is worth going back and reformatting the existing indexes, but would prefer the table format in future indexes.

| |
| − | | |
| − | Robert,
| |
| − | | |
| − | I'm ok with your proposed next projects. Let me know when you've completed extracting the 1855 state census. If you would please establish the index format you'd like me to follow using the letter "A", I will duplicate for the other letters and get started.
| |
| − | | |
| − | I'll work on linking the 1850 Mortality Schedules to family pages in parallel for a little variety.

| − | I've begun indexing. Question regarding how to alphabetize by given name. Which would you prefer to see first; Hannah or Hannah A.? It would appear that it's done one way in state indexes and the other way in the national index.
| |
| − | | |
| − | Edit: I reread your instructions again and believe you're saying Hannah before Hannah A.

| − | | |
| − | Robert,
| |
| − | | |
| − | I just wanted to let you know that while completing the Whitney, Samuel (c1803-a1870) family page, I came across additional information that may be related to this family that warrants further investigation. I have therefore suspended work on this page until I complete my investigation. I just didn't want you to think I had left this page half finished.

His daughter Rachel Farnsworth did not die in 1847 because she died March 20, 1857 and is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Dover, IL with her husband Simon Abel who died September 28, 1851.
