Family:Whitney, Alvin M. (c1828-1900)

Alvin M. Whitney, parentage not proven, but see Notes below, was born about 1828, Thornton, NH, and died 7 Jan 1900, St. Johnsbury, VT, aged 72 years.^[1]

He married, about 1855, Clara/Caroline L. Corey, daughter of Amos and Nancy (Kentfield) Corey. She was born about 1834, Bath, NH, and died 25 May 1912, Barton, NH.^[2]

He was a wheelwright and millwright.

i.	Sarah Louisa Whitney b. ca. 28 May 1852, Woodsville, Haverhill, NH; d. 9 Dec 1905, Waterford, VT, aged 52 years 6 months 11 days, of cancer of the rectum;[3] m. 3 Aug 1871, St. Johnsbury, VT, Edward B. Farr, of St. Johnsbury, b. 1850, St. Johnsbury, VT, son of Pardon D. and Lucy (-----) Farr.[4]
ii.	Ada May Whitney, b. ca. 1856, NH; d. 15 Sep 1930, VT;[5] m. 20 Apr 1876, St. Johnsbury, VT, Walter H. Gould, son of Hiram and Hannah (Ingals) Gould.[6]
iii.	Charles A. Whitney, b. 22 Nov 1857, St. Johnsbury, VT;[7] d. 19 Jan 1867, St. Johnsbury, VT, aged 9 years 2 months 3 days, of disease of leg bone.[8]
iv.	Nellie A. Whitney, b. 24 Sep 1860, St. Johnsbury, VT;[9] d. 24 Sep 1877, St. Johnsbury, VT, aged 17 years, of turn of life.[10]
v.	Arthur Silas Whitney, b. ca. 1873, St. Johnsbury, VT; m. 17 Jul 1895, St. Johnsbury, VT, Mary Jane Green.[11]

Notes

He may be the son born 1825-1830 of Silas⁷ and Sally (Lovejoy) Whitney, of Thornton, NH.
