Stephen M. Whitney (John), son of John and Charlotte (Prouty) Whitney, was born about 1823, Boston, MA, and died 1864, Syracuse, NY.

He married, 30 Apr 1854, Southborough, MA, Ellen Percy Cady, both of Royalston,[1] daughter of Jason and Eleanor (Coffin) Cady.[2] She was born 3 Mar 1831, Mansfield, VT, and died 29 Jul 1912.

Not found in census record of 1850. Resided Royalston 1855 and 1860.
