Rev. William E.6 Whitney (John5, (poss.)Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of John5 and Joanna (Foy) Whitney, was born about 1770, ME, and died 22 Nov 1858, Kendall, IL.
Marriage intentions were published 20 Jul and 5 Aug 1799, Clinton, ME, for him and his first wife, Sarah Brackett "both of Twenty Five Mile Pond Settlement",[1] daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Bangs) Brackett. She died 9 Apr 1819, Alfred, ME.
He married secondly, Mary -----. She was born about 1801, ME, and died after 1850.
Resided Orleans Co., NY.
In 1817, resided near Clarendon, NY, along with Daniel Brackett, Sarah Whitney, Sarah Brackett.
From History of Clarendon (Orleans Co., NY), p. 174 (Barre Road): In 1819 Zebulon Packard moved into a cabin he purchased from Elder William Whitney on what is now known as Packard road, just to the north of the school house at Manning or Lawton's Corners.
