Nathaniel Whitney, parentage unknown, was born 7 Feb 1800, ME and died 1838.

He married, 5 May 1827, in the area of Scarborough, ME, Charlotte Cook. She was born 16 Feb 1802, ME and died 22 Jul 1850, Searsport, ME. She was formerly of Portland, and was buried Portland, ME.[1]

Children of Nathaniel and Charlotte (Cook) Whitney (order uncertain, perhaps incomplete):

i. Charles H. Whitney, b. 15 Sep 1828,[2] ME; d. 16 Sep 1885, Vancouver, Washington Territory; m.(1) 8 Dec 1850, Searsport, ME, Hannah P. Porter,[3] only dau. of Josiah and Lucy Porter, d. 26 May 1854, Searsport, ME.[4] She was received [in the Searsport Church] 22 Mar 1840, 13 years, and excommunicated 13 May 1852.[5] He m.(2) 8 Jun 1856, Searsport, ME, Caroline Nichols, "both of Searsport".[6][7] In 1863, he was liable to enroll in the militia.[8] About 1865, he and his family left Searsport, ME,[9] presumably for Vancouver.

iii. Mary Caroline Whitney, b. ca. 1834, ME, m. Luther Augustine Coombs; d. 24 Feb 1915, age 83.
iv. John Whitney, d. infancy.
v. Rosilla Ann Whitney, b. ca. 1836, ME; "of Searsport" m. 3 Nov 1864, Frankfort, ME, Upton Treat,[12] as his 3rd wife.[13]
