Lou Whitney's wife remains alive at the age of 91 years. They had four children, all of whom remain alive, with nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Lou Whitney's wife remains alive at the age of 91 years. They had four children, all of whom remain alive, with nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Lou was in the US Navy during WWII, serving at Norfolk, VA. After the war he returned to his job as a welder with the Sturtivant Division of the Westinghouse Corporation in Hyde Park, MA. Lou was a highly talented "Water Tight" welder. He spent the latter part of his career with Westinghouse working on projects for their nuclear program. He built components for the hydrogen recombiners at the nuclear facility at Oak Ridge, TN, and built components for the nuclear reactor on the first nuclear submarine, the USS Nautilus. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hyde Park, MA, and raised his family there. He is buried in the Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham, MA.
